Lambeth Cemetery Open Day

This year Cappagh were invited by Lambeth Council to participate in the Lambeth Cemetery Open Day. As neighbours in the local community we were honoured to participate in this event which took place on Sunday 16th July 2006.

Inter-Company Football Challenge/Family Fun Day

Bank Holiday Sunday 30th April 2006 saw the introduction of Cappagh’s first Inter-Company Football Challenge and Family Fun Day. The football challenge witnessed the skillful men on wheels i.e. the drivers take on the tactical drainage lads/groundworkers and came about as the brainchild of soccer-mad transport manager Graham Hearne. Graham is well known in the South London football community and regularly turns out to train junior teams in his precious spare time.

What a fantastic result for Cappagh!!

Thames Water teamed up with WRAP (the governments Waste and Resources Action Programme) to create the Sustainable Waste Action Group (SWAG) award, with the aim of promoting a more sustainable approach to waste among contractors.

With entries from numerous contractors, we were initially delighted that Cappagh’s submission got us through to the final stage stages, where we found ourselves in direct competition with blue chip companies such as Costain, Gleesons, Barhale, Laing O’Rouke, Black and Veatch, VHE and Selwood.

2006 Waste Innovation Award - 23rd February 2006

We are attending the finals of the prestigious Thames Water/WRAP Sustainable Waste Innovation Awards 2006 tomorrow.

Pitched against very stiff competition including Laing O'Rourke and MJ Gleeson, we are absolutely thrilled to be recognised by Thames Water as being a leading company in working towards sustainable waste management. To qualify, a clear demonstration that the business continually strives to reduce engineering construction waste going to landfill was a prerequisite for all submissions.

Best Environmentally Friendly Business

Wandsworth Borough received over 150 applications for their prestigious Business Awards and Cappagh were extremely proud to be announced as finalists for the best environmentally friendly business.

Our recycled aggregates division were particularly delighted to be recognised as directly and positively improving the local environment by continuing to invest and apply innovative solutions to recycling , thus ensuring waste reduction and encouraging the sustainable use of resources.

Children in Need Charity Event � The King comes to Cappagh!

Last month saw our first fundraising effort in aid of BBC Children In Need with several fundraising events taking place throughout the day – and night!

Paul Ferncombe undoubtedly stole the show as the Vegas Years version of the King bravely collecting proceeds at head office from 6am on an extremely frosty day in those flimsy white flares – it certainly brightened up some peoples’ days whilst bringing a tear to the eye of others!

Island Barn Restoration Scheme Environmental Awards

Cappagh was recently recognised for its key role in the restoration project of the former Chelsea and Lambeth reservoirs in Molesey ( now known as Island Barn wildlife sanctuary).

Breast Cancer Fundraising - In the Pink!!!

Our annual fundraiser took place on the last Friday of October the official month for breast cancer awareness. This is a charity which ranks highly amongst the causes we choose to support. Although a large number of employees considered themselves somewhat too macho to be caught out in pink there was however a fantastic response on the contribution side.

Cappagh have all the ‘in-house’ resources required to carry out a full range of land remediation contracts safely and competently thoughout London and the South East. We are able to provide ‘complete package’ contracts from the day the site is acquired and consistently exceed our clients expectations. We are particularly proud to have received accolades from both our clients and independent bodies in recognition of the quality outputs achieved.
