Pressing pause to move forward – Cappagh AMP8 Stand Down

On 1st August, our Cappagh team working on the Portsmouth Water Framework stepped away from the tools for our AMP8 Stand Down – a full day to reflect, learn, and set our focus for the challenges ahead.

The event opened with a talk from our Managing Director, Matt Guest, who celebrated our achievements over the last 10-year contract and set out our position and the opportunities we’ll face as we move forward.

We then ran three interactive sessions covering Infrastructure, Repair & Maintenance, and Reinstatement. Within these, we explored key themes including Health & Safety – with a fantastic talk from our SHEQW Director, Steve Kelly – as well as Streetworks best practice, customer experience, performance targets, and the importance of public perception and trust. After each session, Alan Skipper, our Operations Director, led informal Q&A discussions to ensure every team member felt heard and involved.

It wasn’t just presentations – it was open discussions, shared experiences, and a commitment to continual improvement.

And yes, the energy stayed high thanks to the breakfast van, pizza, and plenty of refreshments.

A huge thank you to everyone who made the day such a success. By pressing pause, we’re making sure our Portsmouth Water Framework team moves into AMP8 safer, smarter, and stronger together.
