Cappagh Awarded Portsmouth Water Smart Metering Framework for AMP8
New contract puts innovation, environment and customers at its heart
Cappagh has been awarded a new framework contract to deliver vital smart metering installations for Portsmouth Water across AMP8 — marking an exciting new chapter in a collaborative relationship built on shared values of innovation, sustainability and customer focus.
Smart metering is far more than a technical upgrade. By accurately tracking individual consumption, customers are empowered to understand their own usage and develop responsible water habits. Smart meters also allow for the earlier identification of leaks — both on the customer's property and within the wider distribution network — helping tackle the ongoing challenge of lost water.
Alan Skipper, Cappagh Operations Director, said: "Smart metering is a cornerstone of modern water management, echoing Portsmouth Water's business plan focus on putting the customer and the environment first. We are not only ensuring a more resilient water supply but also playing our part in protecting biodiversity and cutting leakage for the long term."
Charlotte Payne, Cappagh Contract Manager for Smart Metering, said: "What's most exciting is knowing that the work we're doing will have a real, positive impact - helping customers understand their water use, reducing waste and supporting a more sustainable future for our communities."
The contract also enables Cappagh to invest further in people, fleet and plant, and includes an apprenticeship programme with CETC Fareham College, offering local young people practical training and valuable experience as the next generation of smart metering specialists.
