Portsmouth Water Teams Praised for Rapid Response to Major Water Main Burst

Cappagh's Portsmouth Water teams were called into action following a major burst on a 12-inch cast iron water main on Petersfield Road, Havant.  The burst occurred in a densely populated area, causing significant disruption and extensive flooding, with police required to close the road while Cappagh crews mobilised rapidly to take control of the situation.

Once on site, the Repair & Maintenance team immediately began a co-ordinated response - excavating and isolating the damaged section and carrying out a full repair under challenging conditions.  Once the main was made safe, reinstatement teams took over to backfill, restore and reinstate the affected areas, including addressing large volumes of consequential damage caused by the burst.

Despite the pressures of working in a busy urban environment, the teams worked tirelessly and against the clock to restore water supplies and get the road re-opened as quickly as possible.
