Reinstatement & Backfill Services

Each year Cappagh permanently reinstates thousands of roads and footpaths, verges and gardens to exacting standards.  We help to return public highways to their previous condition or better, following essential utility works.  Using our in-house direct labour teams, we lay kerbs, paving slabs, block paviours, hand-lay tarmac, concrete, anti-slip surfaces and road markings.  Once essential repair works have been completed in customers’ properties on behalf of our utility clients, the last step is to reinstate garden, footpath, driveway surfaces and structures.  Our staff are carefully vetted, inducted and receive continuous training and coaching throughout their careers with Cappagh to ensure they fully empathise with customers on behalf of our clients when carrying out this work.  We expect our people to think of every job as if they were working on their own property.

Reinstatement & Backfill, Cappagh

We produce our own recycled aggregates at Cappagh, derived from utility arisings and construction and demolition waste.

We are proud of the fact that we only use quality accredited recycled materials to backfill excavations prior to the final surface layers being applied.  To provide assurance and quality control, our backfill and reinstatement process is subject to testing scrutiny. Our recycled materials are independently tested at the production facilities to a regular schedule.  The compaction and placement of materials by our operatives is measured using compaction testing equipment at the time the work is carried out and then subsequently through core testing.  In addition to field supervision, we operate virtual supervision where photographs are examined live via our works management system to ensure workmanship and health and safety standards are adhered to.

Work for our clients is planned by our reinstatement planning teams based either in our own offices or clients’ premises.  Our people enable, plan, liaise with Highway Authorities, issue opening and closing Road Notices and Permits and use both Cappagh’s and our Clients’ internet-based work management systems.
