Thames Water has entrusted Cappagh to undertake a trial to test methods and techniques to remove Interceptor traps from within manholes using “no-dig” techniques. Off the back of the successful award of an 8-year Trenchless Lot 3 contract and the early wins that have been demonstrated to Thames Water; Cappagh have been asked to deliver innovation, value and exemplar customer service in the development and delivery of an interceptor removal and pipe rehabilitation pilot.
Interceptors are commonly the cause of blockages leading to foul water flooding and increased network maintenance costs to properties and the trial consists of the removal of 60 of the traps from flooding hot-spots in Northeast London.
If successful, the trial may see the launch of a much larger project.
