Cappagh has commenced work at Coppermills Water Treatment Works in northeast London, on two Slow Sand Filter Beds which are the primary water treatment process at the site, utilising rapid gravity filtration. There are more than 30 beds in total, collectively treating millions of litres of raw water every day.
Under the framework contract awarded to Cappagh in 2019 by Thames Water, the full refurbishment of the SSF Beds will be carried out. This involves the removal of sand, shingle & carbon filtration media in layers for washing and regeneration. Cappagh will then re-lay each bed with the critical media in defined layers.
