Thames Water has awarded Cappagh Group of Companies the new AMP7 Slow Sand Filter (SSF) Bed Refurbishment Framework Contract.
Award covers Lot 1 of the Framework– Media removal and installation.
Under the framework, the full refurbishment of the SSF Beds will be carried out. This involves the removal of sand, shingle & carbon filtration media in layers for washing and regeneration. Cappagh will then re-lay each bed with the critical media in defined layers, prior to final inspection and hand over. The slow filter beds are crucial to the water treatment process.
The contract period is 3 years with a possible extension following successful completion and covers the Greater London area where Thames Water has approximately 114 slow sand filter beds across 5 sites.
Estimated total value when the framework agreement was tendered was put at £35.6m.
